I'm moving – please help me prioritize! (very detailed, but anything helps!)?

Age: 21
Gender: Female
Occupations: Full-time student, frequently performing classical musician (mostly in churches)
Living space: half of a 12×14 (approx.) dormitory
Climate: Seasonal, with frequent precipitation
Problem: Moving into a new dormitory with a new roommate, and the furniture setup is different. I don’t know if everything will fit.
Solution: Prioritize how much of everything I need, and take the rest home.

If you were me, how much of each thing would you need? Would you need any at all?

I. CLOTHING
(for the record, my style preference is classic and clean, and I prefer skirts over pants)
A. TOPS
1. Camisoles/tank tops
2. T-shirts
3. Everyday tops
4. Sweaters
5. Dress blouses
6. Cardigans
7. Hoodies

B. BOTTOMS
1. Jeans
2. Trousers
3. Skirts

C. FULL BODY
1. Pajamas (remember, I live at school, so someone will know if I wear the same thing every day)
2. "Everyday" dresses
3. Semi-formal dresses (for small-scale performing, auditions, dances)
4. Gowns (for larger-scale performing)

D. OTHER CLOTHING (feel free to add detail to any category as you see fit)
1. Underwear
2. Bras
3. Socks
4. Pantyhose/Tights
5. Shoes (keep in mind that I prefer to dress up, but I also prefer flat shoes)

E. JEWELRY
1. Necklaces
2. Earrings
3. Anything else?

F. What, and how many, should be included in a basic hairstyling kit for long hair?

II. TOILETRIES (much of this category is self-explanatory, but I still need help on a few things)

A. How many different perfumes is it OK to have? Same for lotions.
B. What are the things I should absolutely have in my medicine/first aid drawer?

III. DINING (for the record, I do cook and bake on occasion)

A. Cutlery
B. Plates
C. Cereal/soup bowls
D. Basic 16-20 oz. glasses
E. Ceramic mugs (I drink a lot of tea, and so do my friends, but most of them usually have their own mugs)
F. Travel mugs
G. Wine glasses
H. Water bottles

IV. DESK SUPPLY (again, this is mostly under control, but is worth discussion anyway)

A. Pencils
B. Pens (other than my fountain pens, of which I have 4 – one for working at my desk, one for classes, and two for fancier writing in color)
C. Notepads

V. UNNECESSARY RANDOMNESS (for this, it’s more about striking a balance than about necessity)

A. Desk decorations
B. Pillows
C. Throw blankets
D. Stuffed animals

Thanks for your help!

This is where a military mindset would be in order.
Minimize everything down to what you really need.

If you’ve got laundry facilities, minimize your wardrobe to what is essential. If you’ve got coordinating clothes skirts, tops, jackets that you can mix and match all the better. Think "Geranimals" for adults. You shouldn’t have more than a week’s worth of clothes, forcing you to do laundry and keep things in order. But it’s also have appropriate clothing for the weather. Have two or three dresses (no more) for concert appearances.

All of your toiletries should fit into no more space than a shoe box. Same for jewelery.

In a dorm you’re not going to have room for a bone china service for 12. Bring enough for what you need, cleanup after each meal. You don’t need half a dozen travel mugs and ceramic mugs. Pick one or two. That’s enough. I’d use a travel mug for everything. Use acrylic wine glass(es) if you need them; non-breakable works best in a dorm.

Fountain pens! (I love you!) Really, if you’ve got a Mont Blanc that’s all you need. A pair of mechanical pencils and a tube of leads is more space efficient than three boxes of Dixon Ticonderoga #2s.

Decorations are really up to you … and that includes the stuffed animals … be selective in what you pick to take along. A couple of micro-fleece blankets would be nice to have for cold nights or drinking cocoa while watching the TV. Roll them up when not in use (again about the size of a shoebox.)

… Laptop, printer, mp3 player and ear buds, instrument(s).
